Around six thousand years ago, God created all that we see. He also created the first man, Adam. God saw that everything He had made was good. However, Adam was alone. This was not good. God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam and took out one of his ribs. From this rib, God made a woman and brought her to the man (Genesis 2:18–22).

In that way, God officiated at the first wedding and instituted the home. God said, “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh” (Genesis 2:24).

Studying that original home will help us perfect our homes today, making them more like the home that existed in Eden’s perfect world.
