I wrote this to express my feelings about the death of little friend of mine.
The Bible pictures God's people as strangers and pilgrims passing through an unfriendly world. The apostle Peter shows us that inspite of these earthly trials we can have hope and even joy, for four different reasons.

Sometimes Christians get the idea that they should be able to enjoy God’s blessings without being subjected to His testings. However, God has told us that trials and suffering can be expected. Jesus' presence and the grace to endure hardships are promised, not comfort and pleasure here on earth.
Heat is applied to gold for one reason—to burn out the dross. Is it a surprise then that Christ the refiner allows us to experience the fire of trials to help us become more like Him?
